The Land War

In 1879 famine threatened the west of Ireland. Many feared the mass evictions that had accompanied the Great Famine of the late 1840s would be repeated as tenants fell behind on rent as they struggled to feed their families. Determined that history would not be repeated they organised themselves into the Land League and resisted landlords attempts to evict them.
